Payments and coupons

The free plugin includes everything you need to price an order. SubtleForms Pro adds Stripe checkout to collect the payment.

Payment fields

FieldWhat it does
ProductA single item with a price and an optional quantity
Priced OptionsRadio, dropdown or checkbox choices that each carry a price
Custom AmountLets the visitor enter an amount, such as a donation
Fixed FeeAdds a fixed charge, such as a booking fee
Order SummaryShows line items, subtotal, discount, tax and total, updated live

Tax

Set a tax rate in the form’s payment settings. Tax is calculated on the subtotal after any coupon discount and shown in the Order Summary.

Coupons

Open Subtle Forms > Payments to manage coupons. Each coupon can have:

  • A percent or fixed discount.
  • A minimum order amount.
  • A usage limit.
  • Start and end dates.
  • A list of forms it applies to, or all forms.

Add a coupon field to the form so visitors can enter a code. The Order Summary updates when the code is accepted, and a clear message explains why a code was refused.

Collecting payment with Pro

With SubtleForms Pro, connect Stripe and visitors can pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. The payment is authorised when the visitor submits, and captured only after the entry has been saved. If saving fails, the authorisation is released, so nobody is charged for an entry you never received.

Without a payment gateway

Payment forms still work without Pro. The order is calculated and stored with the entry, marked as payment pending, so you can take payment offline.
